• RATING: Novice/ beginner
• FOOD: mice small rats and small gerbil
• WATER: fresh water, shallow dish
• DAY TEMP: 80.6 - 86 F ( 27 - 30 C)
• NIGHT TEMP: 72 - 77f (22 - 25 C)
• LIGHTING: Incandescent lighting, UVB fluorescent
• SUBSTRATE: Newspaper, shredded cypress

 

NOTES: 3-4 feet, 20+ gallon tank with secure lid, hid box, 60% humidity, nocturnal

 

BOAS AND PYTHONS (GENERAL GUIDELINES)

 

• RATING: novice/beginner; intermediate; expert
• FOOD: Mice, rats, rabbits ...
• WATER: fresh bowl of water daily ( large enough to soak in, heavy enough not to tip easily)
• DAY TEMP: 80 - 86 F (27 - 30 C)
• NIGHT TEMP: 72 - 77 F ( 22 - 25 C)
• LIGHTING: Incandescent and UVB fluorescent
• SUBSTRATE: Newspaper

 

NOTES: Tank or box with secure lid- enclosure should preferably be double the size of the snakes length; hidebox. Some species are semi-arboreal or arboreal- there should be branches for climbing for those species.

 

BURMESE PYTHON Python molurus bivittatus 

 

• RATING: expert (* due to adult size and housing needs)
• FOOD: mice rats, rabbits ...
• WATER: fresh bowl of water daily- large enough to soak in
• DAY TEMP: 85- 88F (29.4 C - 31.1 C)
• NIGHT TEMP: 75 - 80 F (23.8 C - 26.6 C)
• LIGHTING: Incandescent and UVB fluorescent
• SUBSTRATE: Paper towels, newspaper or butcher paper, astroturf ...

 

NOTES: Can reach lengths of 20 + feet, 25 + year lifespan, diurnal, needs very large enclosure with hidebox.

• FOOD: Mice and small rats- pinkies, fuzzies, hoppers ...
• WATER: fresh bowl of shallow water daily for soaking
• DAY TEMP: 80 - 85 F ( 26.6 C - 29.4 C)
• NIGHT TEMP: 75 - 80 F (23.8 C - 26.6 C)
• LIGHTING: Incandescent and UVB fluorescent
• SUBSTRATE: Newspaper, shredded aspen NOTES: 4-5 feet in length, 15 - 20 + gallon tank with secure lid, hidebox .
